What information do we collect?

address of a person you know.
2) Website Use Information:
Similar to other commercial websites, our website utilizes a standard
technology called "cookies" (see explanation below, "What Are Cookies?") and
Web server logs to collect information about how our website is used.
Information gathered through cookies and Web server logs may include the date
and time of visits, the pages viewed, time spent at our website, and the
websites visited just before and just after our website.
What Are Cookies?
A cookie is a very small text document, which often includes an
anonymous unique identifier. When you visit a website, that site's computer
asks your computer for permission to store this file in a part of your hard
drive specifically designated for cookies. Each website can send its own cookie
to your browser if your browser's preferences allow it, but (to protect your
privacy) your browser only permits a website to access the cookies it has
already sent to you, not the cookies sent to you by other sites.
What organization is collecting the information?
GLAD (GLobal ADventure) Travel operates and manages
www.gladtravel.com. GLAD is a private company and solely operates and manages
the website and the data gathered within.
How do we use the information that you provide us?
Broadly speaking, we use personal information for the purposes of
making your user experience more convenient and allowing you access to
additional personal services. Registration information is used so that
customers do not have to repeatedly enter the same information. Additionally,
registration allows users access to their personal travel planner, where they
can store, edit, and review personal notes, reservations, and wish lists.
Occasionally, we may also use the information we collect to notify you about
important changes to our website, new services and special offers we think you
will find valuable. You may adjust your preferences at any time if you do not
wish to receive certain communications.
Your email address will be used by GLAD for the following: to
send confirmation details to you regarding your booking(s), to contact you
regarding any problems or queries that we have regarding your booking(s), to
allow the lodging supplier to contact you regarding any issues or questions
they may have relating to your booking with them, to send you our monthly
newsletter should you subscribe to it (you can unsubscribe from this service at
any time), and to send you notices or special deals from GLAD should you agree
to receive these (you can opt-out at any time). We may also retain the content
of your email messages together with your email address and our responses. Your
email will not be used by GLAD to send you unsolicited or spam email or to sell
to other companies.
On occasions, we may supply statistics about our customers to
third parties such as lodging suppliers or other agents. These statistics never
contain personally identifying information.
How do we use the information we collect from cookies?
As you browse on our website, the site uses its cookies to
differentiate you from other users. In some cases, we also use cookies to
prevent you from seeing unnecessary advertisements or requiring you to log in
more than is necessary for security. Cookies, in conjunction with our Web
server's log files, allow us to calculate the aggregate number of people
visiting our website and which parts of the site are most popular. This helps
us gather feedback in order to constantly improve our website and better serve
our customers. Cookies do not allow us to gather any personal information about
you and we do not generally store any personal information that you provided to
us in your cookies.
Sharing Information with Third Parties
Lodging suppliers will be given the information you provide on
the booking page in order to facilitate your accommodation. We also use third
parties to facilitate our business, including, but not limited to, sending
email and processing credit card payments. In connection with these offerings
and business operations, our partners and other third parties may have access
to your personal information for use in connection with business activities. In
situations such as this where your data is shared with a third party firm,
these firms are contractually obligated to only use your personal data for the
purpose for which the relationship exists and these firms do not have the right
to share your data with other organizations or contact you outside the bounds
of their contract with us. No other use is made of collected information. In
particular, the information is never passed to other third parties without
permission, or as specified in this Privacy Policy.
CALIFORNIA Privacy Rights:
If you are a California resident and GLAD Travel customer, you have the right to request information from GLAD Travel regarding the manner in which GLAD Travel shares certain categories of your personal information with third parties, for the third parties' direct marketing purposes. California law provides that you have the right to submit a request to GLAD Travel at its designated address and receive the following information: 1) the categories of information GLAD Travel disclosed to third parties for the third parties' direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year; 2) the names and addresses of third parties that received such information; and 3) if the nature of a third party's business cannot be reasonably determined from the third party's name, examples of the products or services marketed. You are entitled to receive a copy of this information in a standardized format and the information will not be specific to you individually. GLAD Travel's designated email address for such requests is help@gladtravel.com.
Mergers/Acquisitions
As we develop our business, we may buy or sell assets or business
offerings. Customer, email, and visitor information is generally one of the
transferred business assets in these types of transactions. We may also
transfer such information in the course of corporate divestitures, mergers, or
any dissolution.
Protecting Your Information
We want our members and website visitors to feel confident about
using GLAD to plan and purchase travel so we are committed to protecting the
information we collect, both online and off-line. GLAD has implemented a
security program to keep information that is stored in our systems protected
from unauthorized use.
Our systems are configured with data encryption, or scrambling,
technologies, and industry-standard firewalls. When you send personal
information to GLAD over the Internet, your data is protected by Secure Socket
Layer (SSL) technology to ensure safe transmission. When on a secure page, such
as our billing form, the lock icon on the bottom of a Web browser becomes
locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when users are just surfing.
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information
online, we also protect user information off-line. All of our users'
information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted
in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific
job (for example, a billing clerk or customer service representative) are
granted access to personally identifiable information. Finally, the servers
that store personally identifiable information are in a secure environment, in
a locked facility.
While we go to great means to secure your information, GLAD
cannot give an absolute guarantee or assurance in this regard. You should
remain mindful that, as with all email and data sent over the Internet, your
information may be intercepted. You acknowledge that GLAD will not be
responsible for any intercepted information, and you release us from any claims
arising out of or related to the use of information in any unauthorized manner.
Yet, since GLAD utilizes industry standard security measures this risk should
be greatly minimized.
Obligations
GLAD may be required by law to disclose information you have
provided. GLAD may also disclose information against someone who poses a threat
to GLAD's interests (such as customer fraud) or whose activities could bring
harm to others. In addition, it may be necessary for GLAD to provide
information to third parties, such as credit card companies, for the purpose of
resolving disputes that arise in the normal course of business.
Other Websites
There are several places throughout GLAD that may link you to
other websites that do not operate under GLAD's information privacy practices.
When you click through to these websites, GLAD's information privacy policies
no longer apply. We recommend that you examine the privacy statements for all
third-party websites to understand their procedures for collecting, using, and
disclosing your information.
