Don't just go on vacation - experience it

Molokai is for the advanced Hawaii visitor. Most tourists don't even think about visiting it until their 4th or 5th visit to the Hawaiian Islands. One of the reasons for this is that the island is very local and for the most part, fairly undeveloped for the mainstream tourist industry. This also means that if you are the type of tourist that wants to be running around doing lots of different activities and seeing tourist attractions, you might get a little bored on this island. For those of you looking for a real escape from noise and the real world - and not wanting many people around - then this might be the place for you to check out.
Unfortunately, the green movement hasn't really touched this island yet (well, has anything changed on this island in the past 50 years?). So traveling green here may mean simply what Mother Nature intended:
Support local businesses and the local economy.
Reduce, reuse, recycle.
Help to pick up trash on beaches and in parks. Always pack out your own trash during hikes and beach trips.
Respect the local culture and local atmosphere. People live here because it is not busy with tourists and visitors like Oahu and Maui.
