Molokai has a small number of accommodation options (with only Lanai having less). From what we can tell, there's a couple of resorts (which are pricey), some condos for rent, and of course camping. Camping here may be an excellent option because it's a unique opportunity to really have some options and have vast stretches of beach all to yourself. Plus, since the other accommodation options tend to be well over $100/night, it might be the only option for budget travelers. But look around, you might get lucky and find something for less.

One of our green initiatives for 2009 is to form a "Hawaii Green Travel Network" that will list more specific examples - so check back then. An interesting part of finding budget or eco accommodation in Hawaii is that usually these types of places either don't have a budget for marketing/getting the word out or don't have the know-how. We hope this future network will help to give the good green businesses a little help in that regard - and also make it easier for eco-conscious travelers like you to be able to find them!
