Big Island Beaches Less than 30 Miles from Lova Lava Land (Ocean View Town - Kau District)

From Lova Lava Land Heading on Hwy 11 towards Kona:

Road to the Sea Beach Ocean View, Big Island Hawaii1. Road to the Sea Beaches (Ocean View)
Location: Turn on a lava/dirt road towards the ocean that is 2/3 mile south of 80 mile marker on Highway 11. Beaches are 6 miles down this 4x4 road.

Milolii Beach Park - Milolii Big Island Hawaii2. Milolii Beach Park
Location: Turn on a paved road towards the ocean that is a little south of the 89 mile marker on Highway 11. Beach is 5 miles down this curvy road.

3. Honomalino Bay
Location: Follow directions to Milolii Beach & park. Go to the south end of this beach and look for a 20 minute hiking trail to Honomalino.

4. Pebble Beach
Location: Turn towards the ocean between the 96-97 mile markers on Highway 11. Beach is down a 6,000 foot road that drops 1,000 feet in elevation (very steep).

Hookena Beach Park - Big Island Hawaii5. Hookena Beach Park
Location: Turn on a paved road towards the ocean between 101-102 mile markers on Highway 11. Beach is 2 3/10 mile down this road.

Puuhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park - Big Island Hawaii6. Puuhonua o Honaunau (Place of Refuge)
Location: Several options - turn towards the ocean on either Napoopoo Road, Highway 160, or Middle Keei Road. Head towards the National Historical Park and walk to the picnic table area or park by Honaunau Bay.

From Lova Lava Land Heading on Hwy 11 Towards Hilo:

7. Green Sand (Mahana) Beach
Location: Turn on a barely paved road towards the ocean between 69-70 mile markers on Highway 11 (sign for South Point). Follow this road 12 miles, park, and then hike 21/4 miles.

Whittington Beach Park - Naalehu Big Island Hawaii8. Whittington Beach Park
Location: Turn on a paved road towards the ocean between 61-62 mile markers on Highway 11.

Punaluu Beach Park - Big Island Hawaii9. Punaluu Black Sand Beach
Location: Turn on a paved road towards the ocean off Highway 11 (clearly marked).


In Ocean View, same neighborhood as Lova Lava Land:

Pohue Bay Beach & Lagoon - Ocean View Big Island Hawaii10. Pohue Bay & Pohue Lagoon
Location: Hike King's Trail (or other trails to the ocean) from the subdivision where Lova Lava Land is (you can easily see the palm trees on the shoreline from the paved roads before starting the hike). *Ask us for more details.
